A Few March Updates; April Hotbuys, Epiphany Eggs, Sunny Bunny. Next Tutorial?

There’s probably so much more than those listed above.

No calendar this month because I’m knackered and everyone else is doing it so there’s basically no point.

April isn’t the strongest we’ve seen to be perfectly honest. The first item to catch my eyes were the Mid Boots – which seem appear to be very stubby in my opinion. Other than the Pleather Skirt, Jacket and Leggings everything else seems a little washed out and bland in comparison. I think it’s a big challenge to create an outfit with various Hotbuys items because they always scream,”Look at me! Look at me!” before anything else. After looking at April’s bunch and studying them for a little longer I kind of just went, “Meh.” It’s plainly obvious that Stardoll understands that members will lick up anything with a Hotbuys label on it (good or bad), so I am unsure whether or not to call this a half-assed effort or just a bad selection of items. I would really like to say something more positive about April, however what I truly want is those hairstyles.

Somehow these candy-coated diamond-encrusted eggs remind me those made by the Fabergé company. Why not, instead of spending your pennies buying a real yummy chocolate egg, you can instead purchase one at the expense of your dolly to add something sweet to your suite? It is a wonderful idea, however I don’t feel that there is any reason for me to go purchase one right now in Starplaza. I wouldn’t have a clue what to do with it! Spending 30 Stardollars on a perfectly printed egg seems a bit of waste to me if all it’s going to do is sit on a table or lie next to my old Pet-a-porter dog. A great update for those who really want to get into Easter festivities and dedicate an entire room to do so – but for I feel no need. A nice little update and a great use of the Epiphany name, however it’s just not for me and neither are the prices.

There’s nothing like a little Sunny Bunny to brighten your day.

It’s always an exciting moment when a new collection is on the horizon. It’s unconventional, tacky and a lot less sparkly than Epiphany however it still remains as one of my favourite stores. Stardoll have packed the new floors with interesting hair-pieces and *squeal* BOWS! The little creature jewellery pieces are nice too  . . Great for themed wacky outfits or an eight-year-old. I think my favourite items were the Floral Headpiece and Turquoise Diadem. Yes, they are a lot simpler than all the other items and aren’t the show-pieces of the new collection, but I love them all the same. I begin to wonder if Sunny Bunny and other jewellery stores will lose their appeal if StarDesign items are beginning to become more popular. Stardoll’s designs have more finesse to them, however with StarDesign the possibilities are, almost, endless.

It’s been a while since my Youtube page has actually seen some work. Thanks to the majority of folks who have been waiting patiently for a new tutorial – I’ve spoken to quite a few on Chat these past few weeks. I am off school for now, so fingers crossed this blog and the Youtube channel will see some form of activity before I get into my exam schedule.

It’s all recorded and I may add another face in the next hour or so. I have previously expressed that I would like to create a K-Pop inspired make-up tutorial. I know it’s the beginning of spring (for the northern-hemisphere) and the new Dot collection has been released, but when I have spoken to folks about the videos the same two topics come up.

1. Please use items currently within Starplaza

2. Please make it cheap to recreate – i.e Don’t use twenty different items again

Celebrity inspired tutorials are a little differ from the usual ones as although it’s all about the make-up, I would have to say that the face makes up 85% of it. Park Bom’s (from 2NE1) isn’t anything new, but I tried as best as I could to at least make the doll look somehow like her. The second look is inspired by the make-up from Miss A’s Touch MV – I loved it so much! A nice way to perk up a plain black look.

Hopefully something will appear on Youtube tonight.

Catherine’s McQueen Wedding Dress in Starplaza

I cannot believe Stardoll released the dress so soon after the wedding, someone has been working their tablet nibs off.

Real life version:

Brothers and sisters: Best man Prince Harry and chief bridesmaid Phillipa Middelton follow the husband and wife out the Abbey to a crowd of adoring royal fans

Catherine chose the British McQueen brand for her wedding dress and worked along Sarah Burton in the designing process. She also wore a Cartier tiara originally given to the Queen Mother from her husband, George VI. There was a massive speculation beforehand whether or not she would wear a tiara, goodness knows why. The dress wasn’t what I was expecting from a future Princess yet she looked radiant and so elegant. I’m sure she’ll make an excellent Duchess of Cambridge, you don’t see her selling her story to magazines or stumbling out of nightclubs at 4am in the morning. I thought it would be something of a bold statement (much like Diana’s 25 foot train and Meringue style) and as everyone has said – it is very reminiscent of Grace Kelly’s wedding dress from 1956:

I watched the live coverage of the royal wedding on television, best part of the day was when the ITV correspondent Mark Austin was sent into the crowds after the wedding. Just absolutely hilarious. It was estimated that over two billion people across the globe would be watching – uncertain whether or not that was the case – but it was certainly an amazing wedding to have watched. I’m sure everyone anticipating some major hiccup during the service but it was completely flawless (well except when William struggled to place the ring on Catherine’s finger), unlike Charles and the late Diana Spencer’s wedding where she repeated his name in an incorrect order.

I thought everything was just beautiful, the choir were incredible as well. I remember the cameras panning over the celebrities heads and spotting a few faces. I’m sure we’re never going to see such a spectacle for some time. The crowds on their way to Buckingham palace were in their thousands and the streets were paved in Union Jacks.

I still don’t see why people call her Kate when her name is Catherine, shouldn’t it be Cate? Like Cate Blanchett?

Did anybody else watch the Royal wedding?

Oh forgot to mention, thanks for the day off school 😉

No . . it can’t be true.

No other signs of the the other dyes and highlights of the next range of Doree.

I just seen this and my heart plummeted.

Miss Sporty has probably been the worst make-up range I’ve tried in real life, it was just dreadful. I remember I was on a school trip where we had a three night stay-over at Edinburgh and Dundee. On the second night I didn’t get much sleep, got ready in the morning and then everybody commented on how tired I looked. I was probably eleven years old at the time and without my parent’s supervision I decided to buy some make-up. I bought five Miss Sporty products for under £10. The Scottish weather wasn’t great and it begin to pour down and within minutes I had proper Panda eyes and it wasn’t coming off with make-up remover.

I’ve never used Miss Sporty again. There’s a reason why their products are so cheap.

When I ask for a real brand – I mean like a real brand of make-up. Lancome or Dior would be nice . . . although there is business contracts and agreements to sign up to which I don’t think either companies would be willing to do.

Well any ways I hope this mascara is available to Non-Superstars, if anybody can remember the Brazilian campaign last year where everybody received free lipgloss. Although it was more of a Lipstick than a lipgloss, in all honesty.

With Spring arriving and Summer just round the corner in the northern hemisphere- why is Stardoll going to be releasing ice-skates? It just popped out like an odd sock between all the other floral dresses in the spoilers.

Spoilers – Red Doree Dye and Interior

I should really get into the habit of posting spoilers again, I only feel the need to do so if LE or Antidote is about to be released. I never post this early on weekdays, I’ve just realised this.

Well any ways I was browsing through the spoilers and I just picked these three items out. There were also floral bags, dresses and shoes but they weren’t anything special.

People have been banging on about Red hair dye in the Royalty Club for ages now, finally we can have some peace. I’m sure every day there would be a new topic begging Stardoll to release some new red dye for Doree. I think it is just because red hair has come back into fashion due to celebrities such as Rihanna and Cheryl Cole.

We haven’t seen Red dye in the Starplaza for a while so it’ll be nice to see something new – especially from the disappointing previous range.

The interior somehow reminds me of theatre stage or Moulin Rouge although their stage is a lot more razzle dazzle and isn’t very low-key at all. I like the interior and would consider buying it in the future.

Limited Edition Spring/Summer 2011 Released!

I wasn’t expecting the collection so soon.

Being completely honest here – I don’t like it.

The colour is far too harsh for the eyes, I despise neon and especially lime. The hot pink I can deal with. I can’t see the “LE-ness” in this collection, it seems more of an Antidote season release. I’m not certain if I feel this way because we all associate Antidote with edgy and modern styles, while with LE we always see some elegant and high-class designs.

The cheapest item is any of the Bikini bottoms priced at 10 Stardollars and the most expensive item is the Origami Feather Dress priced at 250 Stardollars.

Shopping bags

Usually there are four floors of Limited Edition, so I wonder why there is only two this time round. I hope they don’t repeat the one-collection-release-every-day that occurred during the Autumn 2010 LE collection, although I highly doubt this.

Thankfully due to the Spring Surprises members received Stardollars to purchase even more Limited Edition. All I know is that there is a big cluster of those stupid diamonds next to my wardrobe (my LE diamond wall is getting too full!).

The graphics aren’t as good as the previous collections. I’m not sure if cheap, rubber and tacky were on Stardoll’s priority list. It seems like the collection was done in a rush, keeping in mind that the graphic designers had the Pet-a-porter pets and also a few months ago the LE Decor.

Even Antidote still has a few items left for sale (Thanks to KALEEx for letting me know). Poor Antidote, Limited Edition is always the most favoured limited store.

Has anybody else bought any LE items? Or do people believe that it’s just a label and a waste of money?

New Youtube Video!

After I compressed the file the audio has changed, there’s a fuzzy sound to it. Rawr.

I slightly changed two of the looks from their original snapshots. The Purple/Green didn’t look great with the hint of purple at the side – just seemed a little 2D. The purple eye-shadow snapshot make-up I slightly altered to make it a lot more simpler.

The poll is still open and has now jumped up to 78:51 haha.

UPDATE: I finally managed to close the poll!

I will be using the Epiphany idea when I come back from my exams.

Blending can be tricky, I think I might post up a picture format tutorial on here later on in the day. I’m also planning on creating a short tutorial on how to make a basic Stardoll Make-up Tutorial Video just using Windows Movie Maker.

Also forgot to mention, I have just updated the In the Spotlight page.
