A Few March Updates; April Hotbuys, Epiphany Eggs, Sunny Bunny. Next Tutorial?

There’s probably so much more than those listed above.

No calendar this month because I’m knackered and everyone else is doing it so there’s basically no point.

April isn’t the strongest we’ve seen to be perfectly honest. The first item to catch my eyes were the Mid Boots – which seem appear to be very stubby in my opinion. Other than the Pleather Skirt, Jacket and Leggings everything else seems a little washed out and bland in comparison. I think it’s a big challenge to create an outfit with various Hotbuys items because they always scream,”Look at me! Look at me!” before anything else. After looking at April’s bunch and studying them for a little longer I kind of just went, “Meh.” It’s plainly obvious that Stardoll understands that members will lick up anything with a Hotbuys label on it (good or bad), so I am unsure whether or not to call this a half-assed effort or just a bad selection of items. I would really like to say something more positive about April, however what I truly want is those hairstyles.

Somehow these candy-coated diamond-encrusted eggs remind me those made by the Fabergé company. Why not, instead of spending your pennies buying a real yummy chocolate egg, you can instead purchase one at the expense of your dolly to add something sweet to your suite? It is a wonderful idea, however I don’t feel that there is any reason for me to go purchase one right now in Starplaza. I wouldn’t have a clue what to do with it! Spending 30 Stardollars on a perfectly printed egg seems a bit of waste to me if all it’s going to do is sit on a table or lie next to my old Pet-a-porter dog. A great update for those who really want to get into Easter festivities and dedicate an entire room to do so – but for I feel no need. A nice little update and a great use of the Epiphany name, however it’s just not for me and neither are the prices.

There’s nothing like a little Sunny Bunny to brighten your day.

It’s always an exciting moment when a new collection is on the horizon. It’s unconventional, tacky and a lot less sparkly than Epiphany however it still remains as one of my favourite stores. Stardoll have packed the new floors with interesting hair-pieces and *squeal* BOWS! The little creature jewellery pieces are nice too  . . Great for themed wacky outfits or an eight-year-old. I think my favourite items were the Floral Headpiece and Turquoise Diadem. Yes, they are a lot simpler than all the other items and aren’t the show-pieces of the new collection, but I love them all the same. I begin to wonder if Sunny Bunny and other jewellery stores will lose their appeal if StarDesign items are beginning to become more popular. Stardoll’s designs have more finesse to them, however with StarDesign the possibilities are, almost, endless.

It’s been a while since my Youtube page has actually seen some work. Thanks to the majority of folks who have been waiting patiently for a new tutorial – I’ve spoken to quite a few on Chat these past few weeks. I am off school for now, so fingers crossed this blog and the Youtube channel will see some form of activity before I get into my exam schedule.

It’s all recorded and I may add another face in the next hour or so. I have previously expressed that I would like to create a K-Pop inspired make-up tutorial. I know it’s the beginning of spring (for the northern-hemisphere) and the new Dot collection has been released, but when I have spoken to folks about the videos the same two topics come up.

1. Please use items currently within Starplaza

2. Please make it cheap to recreate – i.e Don’t use twenty different items again

Celebrity inspired tutorials are a little differ from the usual ones as although it’s all about the make-up, I would have to say that the face makes up 85% of it. Park Bom’s (from 2NE1) isn’t anything new, but I tried as best as I could to at least make the doll look somehow like her. The second look is inspired by the make-up from Miss A’s Touch MV – I loved it so much! A nice way to perk up a plain black look.

Hopefully something will appear on Youtube tonight.

Limited Edition Spring 2012 Released!

I am contradicting myself here, however I take my statement back. This collection is a bit of a mix-and-match and from how the store is arranged it does not seem, as I said before, “well pieced together”. Looking at the snapshot I posted above I hardly think the last outfit works with the rest – besides the black trim. Altogether the collection – on some levels – doesn’t suit the overall theme. It’s not so bad that it looks like a blindfolded person scrambled the store together, but I think there could have been a better selection of items. Perhaps Stardoll were trying to find something to suit a variety of tastes, I just think it could have been executed a little better. However each individual item is neat and nice on its own.

While I was creating the spoilers I counted seventy-two items altogether. I thought because this was perhaps the most expansive collection we have seen for a while that it would be the cheapest. I think pricing 85 Stardollars for one tiny top is a little much, but with more people buying membership and such, Stardoll need to find a way to make sure the entire store doesn’t sell-out within three hours of opening. The shoes and accessories were priced decently, as well as the skirts, however I think the tops and dresses could have had a little switch up here and there.

Items that have appeared in this year’s spring collection are nothing new to be honest. We’ve seen Stardoll create similar items. Not identical but I can still see some similarities between past collections and what we are supposed to buy at present. Still it is an overall neat bundle of items and no doubt will sell out by the end of the week.

Currently as I am writing three items have sold out. As always with LE if you have  seen something within the spoilers that you really want it’s best if you get there as soon as you can. The logo within Starplaza hasn’t been updated and the bags appear to be that of the previous collection’s.

I hope those who intended to buy some LE got what they wanted in the end. If you didn’t then it’s not problem as there will another LE collection within the next three months. No use virtually crying over spilt pixels.

Limited Edition Spring Spoilers 2012

Hello there! Here are the spoilers all jammed together.

*One pink waist band belt is missing from this picture*

Whilst categorising all the items together, I never really noticed the underwater theme until I reached the interior. I suppose the seashell purse was a bit of a give-away, but other than that it just appears to be any other Limited Edition collection. Compared to the previous LE collections we’ve seen within the past year, this stands out as a more fitted and pieced together work of Stardoll’s. Although not everything will suit various member’s tastes, there’s still something for everyone. I don’t think it’s the best LE we’ve seen, but I don’t think it’s damn ugly.

Previously I could not care less about LE shoes. Perhaps one or two, but this collection’s are something a little special. The belts all stood out for me as well. The clothes are okay this time round. I can definitely see some items that will sell out first, however I only spot a handful of items that I wouldn’t mind buying for my doll. Although it ever so slightly resembles the Paperbag Waist Skirt from Spring 2010’s collection, I still wouldn’t mind buying the  Black and Pink Skirt for my little dolly.

The LE store – currently as I am writing – still appears and is not in the works. However this collection could possibly be out by tomorrow morning/afternoon. Prices (usually) range from 25 Stardollars up to 250 Stardollars, but I don’t need to tell you that. It’s LE.

Stardoll February Hotbuys 2012.

Months just fly by.

I wouldn’t go as far ahead and say it is the best. Although in comparison to January it does honestly seem like it. This month has some sort of “theme” where the majority of the individual items combine together some way. Stardoll have definitely produced far better sunglasses, I am not too keen on the very thin frames. I have expressed my dislike towards leopard print so that coat and suitcase is out the window for me. The item that I look forward to is the Polka Dot Romper – which I probably will not purchase. The rest, for me, are so-so but I am not so enthusiastic about Hotbuys. With ten items being constantly released every month – and sometimes are ridiculous prices – it can get very repetitive. I hope this year Stardoll up their game and produce far more collective months with spontaneous themes. No matter how ridiculous, people will always buy it.

150 Million Members & New GameZone.

All these milestones have become a bit of a bore – until now. There’s always the cheap merchandise and nice neon balloon stating how many people across the world have managed to finish the oh-so difficult task of filling out the sign up form. Whether or not they stay, pay or do anything with their 43rd multiple account is their own choice.

Thank you to Faith in the comment who pointed out that the mysterious 150 Stardollars were a part of the big celebrations. While I was still in the midst of a big confusion, I sent Stardoll a message and here was their reply:

You have to be restrictive when you are giving so much away, so I do not blame Stardoll. However their first principle of “You missed your time to spend 150 Stardollars even though we didn’t notify you of said events.” is a little . . well inconsiderate.

Thankfully Stardoll (or so I hear) decided to update this and gave everyone 150 minutes to spend their 150 Stardollars. I logged into my account just after midnight to be welcomed by an informative paragraph of text, went to the main page and the 150 Stardollars had already been taken away. Now I’m not too pissed that I missed my chance because I could have easily logged in earlier and done something useless with this delightful freebie, nor do I blame Stardoll because their so-called “greedy mittens” got their hands on my time-limited amount of coins.

I still think 150 Stardollars is a lot to give and for Stardoll to hand this out to all of their paying members is undoubtedly unexpected. I think people discuss Stardoll’s “greediness” to such an extent on every level that we sometimes fail to realise that they aren’t all out there for our purses – although I’m sure they would like it if we did hand over a little something.

150 Stardollars in 150 minutes isn’t so bad. Next time something similiar comes up there needs to be a bit of spring in notifying members at the correct time and not so much in a complicated way – I’m talking about in the beginning.

I wish this range could have been released out four months earlier. It would have made my Mario-ish themed room a lot neater and simpler. I could ramble on about how much I detest decorating my suite and the lack of funding, but I think we’ll decide to end the post here.

New Doree Released.

The new collection of Doree seems like something just to match the latest edition of Dot. The colours again are extremely vibrant and possibly dyes we’ve seen before. The packaging of Doree has changed. This being that it is not only one model – but actually three with a range of different hairstyles and skin colour. It is a nice thought that Stardoll has updated Doree. The vast majority of the dyes seem “new-ish” bar the Lavendar Dove. Usually with a new set of dyes the exact same colours are also released as highlighters. Now this isn’t the case as we only have three highlighters, but I am honestly not too fussed.

My account has gained 150 Stardollars out of the blue – not even appearing anywhere in my transactions. It has been a very strange day. I think I have visited almost +100 accounts within the past thirty minutes – hope people in TRR. do not mind especially if someone was saving all the requests up. I was bored after two hour long Chemistry revision, hence why I decided to write this (practically) pointless post.

Toodle pip.

Valentine’s Dot. Scandinavian Popshop. Valentine’s Pass.

It certainly seems that the last collection released from Dot was donkey’s ago. I always look forward to make-up releases on Stardoll. The Beauty Parlor can be a very restricting place where one can only do so much before the limits occur or your doll ends up looking like a dog’s dinner. There is not that much freedom involved, unlike in real life. If you want to apply vine-like eyeliner from the corner of your eye down to your cheek there is nothing stopping you – on Stardoll there is.

The colours are very striking, almost flashy without verging on the step of neon. I have had a little taster with the shadows and I have to say they blend extremely well. I usually don’t allow my doll to wear such bright colours but I am finding it pretty simple to just add a thin layer of the bright/dark shadows with a White overlapping as to tone it down. The applicators, in comparison to ordinary Dot products, are stubby and small in size. Perhaps it is down to the fact that I have not had a proper Beauty Parlor session for a while, although I do feel that this new collection’s shadows glide a lot easier than say to Sephora or any other shadows on Stardoll. I prefer the applicators with a smaller stem as I feel like I am in more control of the brush itself.

The packaging of the Valentine’s collection is similar to the colour palette in a sense that it is eye-catching and colourful. I think we tend to associate Valentine’s with dull pinks and rosy reds, so I like the fact that Stardoll went for something a little alternative and adding some energy back into Dot. My favourites are the brow pencils and mascaras. This is mainly due to the fact that Stardoll is adding a different range of colours rather than re-introducing the usual norms.

This collection doesn’t deserve the “Dark-shadow-on-the-outer-corners-main-colour-swamps-the-rest-of-the-entire-eyelid” treatment, however I am tired. It’s one of my biggest pet peeves when folks create tutorials where they use this exact same format over and over again. Add some funky liner – mix it up!

My first play-around. One of the great qualities of this collection is that it isn’t just solely for Valentine’s day. It isn’t all pink fluff. You can actually make some really unique looks using the variety of bold reds and pinks, as well as the darker tones of blue and purple.

It’s sleek, classic and simplistic. These are the kind of items you are most likely to find in your own home. It’s not outlandish and the prices aren’t over the top.

Stardoll are stealing our money again! The greedy $?%*#@!!!

Seriously I couldn’t care. Every time a pass or something that basically “benefits” paying members is released we, as a whole community, start verbally attacking our doll’s makers. I personally do not believe that offering a good deal to members is greedy. You do not need to buy it. It is just there if you want it. What I would call greedy: If I paid Stardoll £5 for 1 month membership and they only decided to give me two weeks (even if that is unlawful) or even charging far more than £5.

These passes are good for overall deals. My membership was running out and I felt like my Stardollar count was broken so I thought I may as well. As I am (hopefully) attempting to gradually separate from the five year long attachment between Stardoll and myself, I haven’t made things easier.

I am completely in the dark when a new Youtube video will be made. Teachers speak of up and coming assessments, however there are no specific dates so I cannot plan ahead. To make things up I may just post another Make-up In Real Life entry. I also have circle lenses arriving tomorrow so it would be lovely to review them at some point in time.

Tatty byes!
